In what should be the deal of the offseason the Mets and their fans patiently waited and landed the big fish of the winter: Johan Santana. By doing this the Mets have put themselves back into position to compete with the best of them and has also added some much needed diversity to the Mets locker room (that was for you Corey). In return the Mets gave up 4 promising yet in the big scheme of things insignificant prospects. Stay tuned to "the basement" for all your sports needs and we continue to bring you the latest coverage in what has turned into a very interesting week for the NY sports fan.

FYI- If Wilpon doesnt show Santana the money I might "want to inflict serious bodily harm on the man" (had to make sure I worded it correctly). And if he does I may be more likely to reconsider my previous post about **** Field since he has finally decided to do something for the fans.

Super Bowl

After a month long hiatus due to intense travel and work obligations Kyle Campion has returned to the blog and is looking for some Super Bowl discussion. Before I go any further I want to apologize to fellow bloggers and our fans across this great nation for my lack of focus and dedication, thank you for your understanding and I look forward to continuing this blog.
During my month in hiding my NY Giants have gone through a metamorphasis into the NFC Champions and is one win away from making history as the Super Bowl 42 Champs. Standing in their way is a group of undefeated New Englanders. This is a well coached group of ex-stars and big mouthed journeymen who are led by their "flower boy girlie man" QB whose toughness is often displayed by headbutting big bearded lineman after GQ photo shots.
Also of note this is the first and possibly the last (especially with pitchers and catchers not far away) week where the "basement bloggers" will be in agreement on the same issue. With that being said let's enjoy this week (especially fellow Big Blue fan "Ins" and last minute bandwagon hopper "the sage"). GO BIG BLUE!!!

Divisonal Round/RIP basement?

In what I fear to be the last post ever made due to an apparent lack of interest (if Kyle wont fight back about the Mets, doesn't that make it officially dead?) heres a post for some picks...

Really Carlos??

Recently Carlos Delgado was on Mike and the Mad Dog for an interview and the discussion of last season was obviously on tap. Mad Dog (I believe) pointed out how it seemed that most of the teams take some extra solace in beating the Mets, and asked the English Language Limited Carlos for his opinion on why. His response? "Everybody wants to beat the best." (Exhale, and then read that again) "Everybody wants to beat the best." Now, I am not sure how things are run in Carlos' world, or the Mets world for that matter, but just so I convince myself I'm not crazy, the Mets did not win the World Series nor did they win their League, nor their division. Now if the Mets could take the things that come their way in stride, I dont think I would have so much hatred for them. But for dumb comments like this, and many fans who feel the same way, they deserve everything they get (or more importantly, dont get)
